Two Kinds of People

There are two kinds of people in this world. People I like, and people I don't like.

People I like are the ones who hear that I ran 4 miles and say "Oh my God, I could never do that! I can't even run half a mile!" These people confirm what's in my mind: that I am now one of those crazy runners and 4 miles is a ridiculously long distance that no one should ever run unless they're being chased by a bear.

People I don't like are the ones who answer the question "how far did you run today?" with "Only 7 miles, but I really pushed myself to run it fast." Other people, "real" runners, who are training for a marathon have just become my nemeses. You know who you are. Watch out for me. But don't run away because there's no way I could catch you!

  1. you would love me! the furthest I had ever ran was 1.5 miles. That was back when I was in shape. And I desperately wanted to make the Volleyball team. And we ran laps around the football team to accomplish this. No wonder i came in 6th out of 30+ people, when I really wasn't sure if I could do it at all...
