Bootcamp shmootcamp

Okay, bootcamp is officially easier. It only took 4 1/2 months of doing it once a week! But now all the things that used to make me want to just throw in the towel, give my resignation, keel over and die…only make me want to cry a little!

A sample of a bootcamp workout:

  • Warm Up: 60 seconds of running up and down steps/30 seconds of lunges on steps x 3 sets
  • Hill sprint repeats (sprint up the hill, jog down, 5reps)/15 push ups (ideally on toes) x 4 sets, try not to cry
  • High bench one legged dips (15reps on each side)/deep standing lunges w/weight over head (15reps each side)/squat thrusts w/hop (15reps) x 4 sets, cry a little
  • Medicine ball sit ups (holding the ball over your head sit up and throw it to your partner across the room, she'll throw it back, catch it as you lower your body back down. 15reps) x 5 sets, laugh really hard when you almost take out your partner's face with the medicine ball
  • Stretch
  • High-fives*
*Please note that this is the only occasion in which I deem high-fives acceptable.

Bootcamp is a 1 hour class and at the end my muscles are SHAKING. It is difficult to drive home afterwards because, well, because you have to use your legs to drive. I LOVE BOOTCAMP! I never thought I would be the kind of person who actually liked having someone else kick my ass, but I just love it. Thanks Anna for taking me so many months ago (and not giving up on me finally showing up one day!) and thanks Priscilla for kicking the wuss out of me! :)
