Anniversary

Today is the anniversary of the day I decided to start paying attention to myself. Exactly one year from the day I stepped on the scale and saw that horrible number that shook me up enough to push me to make a change. One year ago today I started my "30 days to make a habit"...planning on working out every day for 30 days...which turned into over 100 days in a row without a day off. While I have not made the strides I was hoping for in that time I have made some gigantic differences in my lifestyle, and the way my body feels. Below is my list of goals written last year at this time.
1. Get in the habit of working out and continue to work out 3-4 days a week after the 30 days.
2. Train for a run a 5k race
3. Lose weight
4. Eat better - plan meals ahead

And here is how I've done so far....
1. I am definitely in the habit of working out. I can tell because I feel sluggish and tired and generally heavy when I don't. I also feel ridiculously guilty and lazy (which kinda sucks...I mean shouldn't I be able to take some days off sometimes?)
2. I have run several 5k races and completed them without walking (woo!). I even mastered drinking water/spilling it all over myself out of those little cups at aid stations while running (a feat all its own!)
3. I am officially down 30.5lbs since last December...not as far along as I'd like to be, but a very good start and over halfway to my goal weight.
4. I am suddenly obsessed with nutrition. I track every calorie I eat and plan most of our meals ahead. I am currently trying to learn what I can eat when we eat out at restaurants. Don't get me wrong, I still indulge (as you can tell from my last post), but I am without a doubt eating better!

So over all, the year has been a success! And now this year I can officially sneer and be annoyed by all of the people in my way in my workout classes and on my runs. They're just New Year's Resolutioners. At least they'll be gone by February. ;-)
