I've never had a Mekong, but I've had a few tequila shots while singing about one! This weekend was a bust. We were supposed to run 6 miles on Saturday (our long run for the week) and we got lazy and decided to push it to today. Then last night we went to see Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers (formerly the Refreshments)...if you don't know them, they're fantastic. Its always a REALLY fun show...But they have lyrics like this:
But is it true
It's always happy hour here
If it is I'd like to stay a while
And as cliché as it may sound
I'd like to raise another round
And if your bottle’s empty
Help yourself to mine
(Mekong from Fizzy, Fuzzy, Big and Buzzy)
And
Well the good guys and the bad guys
Well they never work past noon around here
They sit side by side in the cantinas
Talk to senoritas
And drink warm beer
(Mexico from Fizzy, Fuzzy, Big and Buzzy)
Now how can you go to a show that encourages that kind of drinking (and tequila shots with the band...) and not have a few too many? I'd like to see you try it. The point is, I had a few too many...a few too many to the point where this morning I had to ask Kyle how we got home last night (a cab). Now I have to tell you that I'm getting too old for this heavy drinking thing. I woke up in the middle of the night with a bad leg cramp (so weird that something liquid can dehydrate you...) and when I woke up again this morning it was still hurting! So not only am I hung over and still in my pajamas on the couch, but I also have a very sore calf muscle. Apparently drinking is not conducive to marathon training. I have already resigned myself to staying exactly where I am for the day and the the 6 mile run will have to wait until tomorrow...which means I have to run an extra day this coming week and I have to do it by myself because the extra day will be the day Kyle has soccer. Joy.
Moral of the story? if you're going to see a great band that tells you to drink 8 or 12 times per song, do your 6 mile run BEFORE the show.
This is hilarious!!!
