Oooh sugar, sugar...

Ignorance is bliss, and sometimes I really want a cupcake.

After daily calorie counting for about 2 months, I've really come to understand how many (and what kind of) calories my body needs in a day. I can pretty accurately guess the calories in most of the foods I cook. I can come close when guessing how many calories I've burned in a workout. So now I know the whole calories in/calories out format, and that whatever I put in beyond what my body needs, I have to put out...and that to actually continue to lose weight, I have to put out MORE than I take it...(3500 calories more to lose a pound!) And now that I understand how refined carbs (like sugar) affect my womanly figure (more on that later), and now that I get what I have to do to burn off 100 calories (run a mile), I sure don't appreciate a 400 calorie cupcake like I used to! Not even the pumpkin cupcakes with maple frosting from Cupcake Royale...mmmm...If I really really really wanted one I could go run 4 miles...would it be worth it? 4 miles is a long way...takes awhile...takes about 4 times as long as it would take me to actually eat the cupcake...but the cupcake has frosting. Did I mention the maple frosting? I wish running came with frosting. Sometimes, on a day like today, when I really want a cupcake, I just wish I didn't understand all this stuff. I wish I could set it all aside and just enjoy the sugar high. But then I remember when it wasn't even physically possible for me to run a mile (go back a few pages...you'll remember too)...and I don't want to go back there, so I won't get the darn maple frosted pumpkin cupcake. But ignorance sure is bliss...and sometimes I really want a cupcake.

  1. "4 times longer?"

Your mile time must be much better than mine or else I can just inhale a cupcake much faster. ;)
